Morgan Franklin, of Huntland, TN, serves as a Program Officer at the U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities. She holds a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Middle Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in Plant and Soil Sciences from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Morgan has a strong background in agriculture and forestry. She began her career with the University of Tennessee Extension, supporting education efforts related to farming, nurseries, and home gardening. She later joined Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods, a sawmill in rural Tennessee, where she focused on grant management and operational analytics, including tracking log consumption and lumber production.
In her current role at the Endowment, Morgan helps lead the Forestry Analytics for Carbon Tracking project, a USDA-supported initiative that aims to bring together forest and wood product carbon data from across the value chain. She manages contracts and funding for the platform, which provides standardized and transparent carbon data across U.S. forest lands, harvested wood products, and life cycle assessments, serving landowners, manufacturers, and end users across the supply chain.
Morgan is passionate about sustainable forest management and environmental stewardship, with a focus on using data to support informed decisions and market transparency.
Outside of work, Morgan enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring national parks and small mountain towns with her husband, son, and daughter.
